The problem

Paying more isn't always the answer

A salary bump is temporary. Financial stress comes back. What your team actually needs is the knowledge and support to make their money work — and that's something most NZers have never had access to.

😰

Financial stress is silent

Your staff worry about debt, KiwiSaver, mortgages and insurance in quiet moments at their desk. They rarely tell HR. But it costs you in focus, motivation and retention.

💸

More pay ≠ more security

Without the skills to manage it, higher salaries often just mean higher spending. Financial education creates lasting change — not a short-term fix that fades in 3 months.

🏆

Your competitors are moving

Financial wellbeing is now in the top 5 most desired workplace benefits in NZ. Early-mover employers are using it to attract and retain people at every level.

Why employers choose this

The business case is clear

01

Retention that money can't buy

Financial stress is a top reason NZ employees consider leaving. An employer who invests in their team's financial wellbeing creates loyalty that a salary bump never could.

Reduces turnover
02

A recruitment differentiator

Most NZ employers offer a salary and maybe some KiwiSaver contributions. "We provide professional financial advice for every team member" is a genuinely rare offer — use it.

Talent attraction
03

Group rates nobody else can get

Insurance purchased as a group is substantially cheaper than individual cover. Your team gets better coverage — sometimes at a fraction of the price — through MMFG's insurer relationships.

More value per dollar
04

Tax-smart benefit design

Employer-paid group insurance premiums are deductible business expenses. We help you structure the programme so you're maximising the tax efficiency of every dollar you invest.

Deductible expense
05

Zero admin on your team

We manage all scheduling, follow-up, and communications with your staff. You get a single invoice and an aggregated report. Your HR team doesn't need to do anything beyond the initial sign-off.

Hands-off for you
06

Productivity you can feel

Financially stressed employees lose an average of 3+ hours per week to money worries. Better financial health means better focus, lower absenteeism, and a team that shows up fully.

Common questions

Employer FAQs

How does the pricing work — do we pay upfront?
Foundation is a one-time per-head payment billed when the programme kicks off. Wellbeing and Premier are annual programmes invoiced quarterly — so the cost is spread across the year. Enterprise is custom and we'll structure billing to suit your cash flow. Minimum team size is 5 people for any programme.
Can staff opt out? What if not everyone wants to participate?
Absolutely — participation is always voluntary for employees. You pay only for the seats you want to offer, and staff choose whether to book in. In our experience, uptake is very high once employees understand what's on offer — typically 70–90% engagement in the first 12 months.
Is the advice confidential? Do we see what staff are told?
Yes, completely confidential. Individual meetings, advice, and financial details are strictly between the employee and their MMFG adviser — like any professional advice relationship. What you receive as an employer is an aggregated, anonymised wellbeing report (Premier and above) — showing trends and engagement, never individual data.
How does group insurance work — who pays the premiums?
That's entirely up to you, and we can help you design the right structure. Options include: (a) Employer pays — deductible as a business expense; (b) Staff pay from their salary — they get group rates they couldn't access individually; (c) Split — employer subsidises a portion and staff cover the rest. All three are common and we'll help you model the cost/benefit of each.
What types of insurance can be included in a group package?
We can coordinate group rates for: Health / medical insurance, Life cover, Income protection, Trauma / critical illness, Total permanent disability (TPD), and Mortgage protection. Not every insurer covers every product as a group, so we'll find the right match for your team size and demographics.
We're a small business — is this suitable for teams under 10?
Yes. Our minimum is 5 people, so smaller teams are very welcome. The Foundation package in particular is popular with SMEs — a meaningful, affordable benefit that doesn't require an ongoing commitment. We also work with business owners who want to include their own financial review as part of the programme.
How long does it take to get a programme running?
From discovery call to your first staff appointments, the typical timeline is 2–3 weeks. We handle everything: programme setup, staff communication templates, booking links, and scheduling. Your involvement is a single sign-off conversation and one invoice — that's it.
Can we include our own financial planning as a business owner?
Absolutely, and we recommend it. Many of our employer clients also engage MMFG for personal advice alongside their team programme. You can often access the same group rates for your own insurance, and we'll make sure your business and personal financial strategies are aligned. We can discuss this as part of your discovery call.
